This project is a collection of structured learning missions on AI designed for young learners (aged 8–12) who want to learn AI concepts before tools, prompts or coding.
These missions help learners build judgment about AI systems they already encounter – how they behave, where they fail and when they should (or shouldn’t) be trusted.
Each mission is designed as an investigation, using observation, simple experiments and reflection.
How To Use These Missions
These missions are designed as a progression – moving from awareness to understanding and eventually to responsible creation. Each mission builds on the previous one, but they can also be explored individually.
Learners don’t need prior AI knowledge. There are no right answers. Discussion matters more than completion.
The Missions
This project is intended for parents and educators looking for a thoughtful way to introduce AI education for kids. While many AI courses and tutorials focus on coding or using tools like ChatGPT, Learning to Think About AI focuses on helping children develop judgment about AI systems before they start using them.
