Mission Level: AI Mastermind
Goal: Level up from Operative (testing how AI behaves) to Mastermind (directing how it is used).
You’ve looked under the hood. Now you decide who does what – and which parts of the work should stay human.
Output: Create a finished mini movie trailer for an original story, using AI as part of your creative team.
Tasks
📋 Task 1: The AI Story Buddy
The Concept: Use AI as a “brainstorming buddy” to write a short story, but you must make the final decisions.
The Mission:
- Start your story with this line: “The robot didn’t want to be a vacuum anymore; it wanted to be an explorer.”
- Ask an AI (ChatGPT or Perplexity) for 3 plot twists.
- Choose one twist and rewrite it in your own words to make it better.
Slide 1:
- [ ] Show the 3 plot twists that AI suggested
- [ ] Explain which one you chose and how you changed it
📋 Task 2: The Copycat Challenge (Consistency)
The Concept: AI is bad at remembering details unless you are very clear.
Your job is to see whether the AI can keep the same character across different scenes and what happens when it doesn’t.
The Mission:
- Write your Master Description: Be super specific.
- Example: “A rusty blue robot with square eyes, one red antenna, and tank treads.”
- Scene 1
- Ask the AI to show: “[Master Description] cooking in a kitchen.”
- Scene 2
- Ask the AI to show: “[Master Description] walking on the moon.”
Slide 2:
- [ ] Put the two images side-by-side.
- [ ] The Test: Look closely. Did the AI keep the robot exactly the same? (Check the eyes, the color, and the antenna).
- [ ] If it changed, explain why you think the AI “forgot” the details?
📋 Task 3: The Multi-Media Movie Maker
The Concept: A movie comes to life when sound and movement work together. AI can help with both but you decide how they fit.
The Mission:
- Create the soundtrack: Go to Suno AI. Create a 30-second song for your Robot.
- Prompt Example: “A happy techno song about a robot exploring the moon.”
- Create the visuals: Go to Canva Magic Media. Upload your Robot picture from Task 2 and animate it.
Slide 3:
- [ ] The Trailer: Paste the link to your video
- [ ] The Mood Check: Listen to your song. Does it make the movie feel scary, funny or exciting? Why?
📋 Task 4: The AI Judge
The Concept: AI can help people do impressive things – but that doesn’t mean everything is fair. Your job is to act as the judge.
The Mission: Choose one case to decide.
- Case A – The Art Trophy You used AI to generate a painting and won a $100 prize. → Is it fair to keep the money, or did you cheat?
- Case B – The Homework Helper AI can write perfect essays in seconds. → If that’s true, why should people still learn to write?
Slide 4:
- Write your verdict/decision for the case you picked.
- Finish this sentence: “An AI can be smarter than me, but it will never have…”
Checklist for Completion
- [ ] Slide 1: An AI assisted story where you chose and reshaped the final idea
- [ ] Slide 2: Two images testing whether the AI kept a character consistent
- [ ] Slide 3: A short movie trailer combining AI-generated sound and visuals
- [ ] Slide 4: A clear verdict on one AI fairness question, with your reasoning
Sharing your investigation
This mission works best when the Investigation Report is shared – with a parent, teacher or friend. Explaining what you learned helps you notice gaps in your own thinking and strengthens your understanding.
If you’d like to share what you discovered with us, ask a parent or teacher to submit your final 8-slide Investigation Report using the link below.
Submissions help improve future missions and understand how learners are thinking about AI. There are no right or wrong answers.
